Housing Reapplication Opportunity for Current Residents – Current residents of Purdue West Lafayette residence halls are invited to reapply for housing for the Fall 2026–Spring 2027 academic year. As part of the reapplication process, students may indicate their interest in joining Learning Communities or The Data Mine.

Students who express interest will be considered for a limited number of spots available in these immersive, high-impact experiences.

The housing reapplication portal is open September 29-October 5, 2025.  https://housing.purdue.edu/my-housing/apply/reapplication/index.html

Students will take the seminar course (1 credit) and a corporate partner project with one of our Platinum Partners (3 credits) in Fall 2026 and again in Spring 2027.

Frequently Asked Questions

I’m a Purdue student but am not in the residence halls or am at the Indianapolis location.  Can I still participate in The Data Mine?

You can apply for the Corporate Partners or General Cohort programs through our online application which will open in mid-October.  Current students are not required to live in the residence halls to participate in The Data Mine.  This unique opportunity to live and learn with the Platinum Partnerships companies is available to only Purdue West Lafayette students that fill out and indicate their interest on their housing reapplication.

I plan on living in the residence halls, but I want a specific roommate or to participate in another experience outside of this opportunity in The Data Mine.  Can I still participate in The Data Mine?

You can apply for the Corporate Partners or General Cohort programs through our online application which will open in mid-October.  Current students are not required to live in the residence halls to participate in The Data Mine or can live in a residence hall outside of this experience.

Am I required to take the seminar and corporate partners project course to participate?

Yes, students will be required to take 4 credits total (1 credit for seminar and 3 credits for corporate partners) in the fall semester and again in the spring semester.

Will I get to choose the Platinum Partner I want to work with?

We will work to connect interested students and Platinum Partners so everyone has a great experience, but we cannot guarantee space in a specific project.  We will let students have input and try out best to match the request of students

What residence hall with I live in?

In the past, The Data Mine main residence hall has been Hillenbrand, but we can’t guarantee the residence hall until we have more solid participation numbers.

I’ve never been in The Data Mine, can I reapply for this opportunity?

Yes!  There are no requirements to be in The Data Mine.  It is open to all students in all majors.

Are there other opportunities in The Data Mine?

Yes, please visit this webpage for more information – https://datamine.purdue.edu/academics/

Does it cost more to participate in this opportunity?

There will be housing fees and students are also part of a learning community – last year, every fee eligible student involved with a learning community (LC) at Purdue will be assessed the $200 LC fee to their university account.  These funds support activities and travel, signature LC events, housing assignments and/or course registration and instructor stipends.  We anticipate a similar fee for Fall 2026-Spring 2027.

I have more specific questions.  Who can I contact?
