Outside Event: Workshop on Exploring the Cloud Supply Chain for AI

April 16 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

Artificial Intelligence (AI), especially Generative AI, is revolutionizing the way we live and work. From generating new content and automating tasks to enhancing decision-making and fostering innovation across industries, AI is transforming communication, information consumption, and problem-solving. At the heart of this transformation is the critical infrastructure of data centers and cloud computing platforms, driven by cutting-edge CPUs and GPUs. Industry giants like Microsoft are investing billions in AI-enabled data centers to train advanced AI models and deploy cloud-based applications globally.

Join us for an insightful workshop led by Purdue supply chain faculty, alongside two distinguished Purdue alumni from Microsoft’s cloud supply chain team. This session will provide a deep dive into the supply chain strategies that support AI and cloud computing. Through an interactive case study, participants will gain valuable insights into how Microsoft designs and manages its cloud supply chain to enable the development and operation of AI infrastructure. The focus will be on the challenges of designing a supply chain for GPU product offerings, which are essential for powering AI technologies. Attendees will collaborate to address real-world market constraints and devise innovative solutions.

In addition to the case study, Microsoft representatives will share internship and full-time employment opportunities within their cloud supply chain team. Two Purdue students who interned at Microsoft last year and will be joining the company full-time this fall will also share their experiences and insights.

Workshop Highlights

  • AI and Supply Chain Synergy: Explore how AI is transforming supply chain management, particularly within cloud computing environments. Understand the critical role of GPUs and cloud infrastructure in enabling AI advancements.
  • Interactive Case Study: Dive into a hands-on case study where participants will analyze and tackle supply chain challenges, simulating real-world constraints and problem-solving scenarios.
  • Career Exploration: Discover internship and full-time career opportunities at Microsoft, including insights from Purdue students who have interned at Microsoft and will be joining the company.
  • Networking with Alumni and Industry Leaders: Connect with supply chain professionals, Purdue faculty, and alumni from Microsoft who are shaping the future of supply chain management in the AI sector.
