
Outside Event: Presidential Lecture Series featuring Thomas Rosenbaum, the president of CalTech

Guest speakers and thought leaders will join Purdue President Mung Chiang as part of the lineup for this fall’s Presidential Lecture Series.

Thomas Rosenbaum
Selected as Caltech’s ninth president in July 2014, Thomas Rosenbaum is a pioneer in the field of quantum mechanics and also serves as the Sonja and William Davidow Presidential Chair and Professor of Physics.
Before arriving at Caltech, Rosenbaum spent over 30 years at the University of Chicago, serving as provost from 2007-14. He also was the James Franck Professor of Physics and the John T. Wilson Distinguished Service Professor there. In addition, he served as director of the James Franck Institute, and vice president for research at UChicago and for Argonne National Laboratory.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in physics with honors from Harvard College, and a master’s and PhD from Princeton University.
This event will be held in Fowler Hall and is tentatively scheduled to start at 6:30pm (this could be subject to change). This event will be free to attend but tickets will be required for admission. Tickets can be reserved closer to the time of the event.
