Outside Event: PokéBio: Bridging a Fictional Work & Reality
February 27 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Visit the AAARCC (915 5th St.) on Thursday, Feb 27 from noon to 1pm for the AAARCC’s weekly Lunch & Learn event. Dr. Ximena Bernal Professor, Department of Biological Sciences, will present her project “PokéBio: Bridging a Fictional Work & Reality.”
Discover how students designed unique Pokémon-inspired creations of endangered species of the Midwest & used 3D printing to create a campus-wide interactive game capturing thousands.
Dr. Bernal and the PokéBio undergraduate research team use Pokémon to teach students about ecology, evolution, and conservation biology. The PokéBio project explores the relationship between art, science, and play, reflecting the fundamental human desire to explore and understand the world. The project has flourished into courses and events for the community.
