Salinas-León will discuss the evolution of U.S.-Mexico economic ties under North American trade and investment integration since the beginning of NAFTA in 1994, later USMCA in 2020, and the new threat of a “trade war” in the region with the threat of imposing tariffs and taxes on global trade and investment in the new Trump administration.
President of the Mexico Business Forum Roberto Salinas-León is an economic analyst who presents on trade, Mexico-U.S. relations, the future of democracy and more. He has testified before the U.S. Congress on NAFTA and free trade, structural reform in Mexico, and monetary and exchange rate policy. Salinas-León is also director of the Center for Latin America of Atlas Network, an adjunct fellow of the Cato Institute, and a senior debate fellow and debate lecturer at the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation. He earned his PhD in philosophy at Purdue.
