Outside Event: Data Platform in the Age of AI: From running infrastructure to owning outcomes

Description: AI has made building data pipelines and opening code changes dramatically easier, which moves the bottleneck from building to trusting. This talk argues that the data platform contract has to evolve. Platforms can no longer just provide tools. They need to own workload quality across the whole lifecycle, from code review to staging, production, and tuning, with governance built in by default. Along the way, it covers where AI helps, where deterministic checks are still the better choice, and what this means for students heading into data careers.
