DESCRIPTION:Please reserve a spot at:  https://calendly.com/datamine/guest-speaker-john-breheny \nMr. Breheny is a graduate of the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University in West Lafayette\, Ind where he was the lead teaching assistant for MGMT 365 Executives in the Classroom and MGMT 495 Seminars in Middle Management.  He is a financial engineer\, holding copyrights on two MS Access databases that ran DynCorp’s internal stock exchange and A76 cost comparison models that analyze the cost of outsourcing Federal Government functions.  While at Kidder\, Peabody & Co he built a monte carlo analysis that studied the hedge efficiency of an inverse floating CMO for a floating rate corporate bond portfolio. He built the DynEx internal stock exchange while at Buck Consultants\, an actuarial firm\, when their programmers could not incorporate the stock trades in their mainframe system. \nJohn is currently the Founder & CEO of Laurel Hill Sports (LHS) in Fairfax County VA. His mission is to get kids off the couch and out the streets to work on their dreams. When finished this 200 acre complex will enclose 12 lit turf fields and a 5 acre fieldhouse.  Most recently John has developed programming for on-spectrum athletes to be coached by trained and certified autistic coaches.  Fairfax County estimates that over 5\,000 grade school and high school athletes are in this category. \nFood will be provided!

DESCRIPTION:Location:  Krannert Auditorium Room 140 \nThe Executive Forum is open to the public\, as seating permits\, and provides opportunities for the exchange of ideas and discussion of topics and issues facing business and management. \n  \n  \nLal Karsanbhai is president and chief executive officer of Emerson\, the $17.5 billion global industrial technology leader based in St. Louis.  Under his leadership\, the company is delivering advanced automation solutions that drive transformational outcomes. \n  \nPrior to being named CEO\, Karsanbhai led Emerson’s Automation Solutions business.  In this role\, which he began in October 2018\, Karsanbhai was responsible for leading strategies\, technologies and innovations to help essential industries enhance operations and achieve Top Quartile performance.  He led Automation Solutions to strong performance\, elevating Emerson’s software profile and digital transformation business. \n  \nKarsanbhai began his career at Emerson in 1995 as an international planner.  He held a number of business development positions of increasing responsibility before being appointed director of corporate planning in 1999.  He served as vice president of the regulator technologies business from 2002 until 2005\, when he moved to Gallardon\, France\, as vice president and general manager of natural gas.  There\, he was responsible for integrating two European natural gas entities\, restructuring the business and setting up a plant in Cluj-Napoca\, Romania. \n  \nKarsanbhai was named president of Emerson’s Fisher regulator technologies in 2008.  In the role\, he was responsible for a global business comprised of four distinct business units\, nine manufacturing plants and 2\,200 employees. \n  \nIn 2012\, he moved to the role of vice president of planning\, which he held until 2014.  He was responsible for coordinating Emerson’s global planning and strategy.  He also worked with top Emerson executives\, business leaders\, business unit presidents and world area leadership to organize the business plans and strategy sessions designed to drive growth and profitability. \n  \nKarsanbhai served as president of Emerson’s former Network Power business in Europe\, Middle East and Africa from 2014 until 2016\, when he was named group president of Emerson’s Rosemount Measurement & Analytical.  He held this role until his appointment as leader of Automation Solutions in 2018. \n  \nKarsanbhai currently serves as the Deputy Chair of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis and sits on the boards of Merck\, the US-China Business Council and Greater St. Louis\, Inc.  He is also a member of Business Roundtable\, the Regional Business Council of St. Louis and the Washington University\, Olin Business School National Council.  In 2023\, Karsanbhai was the recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award at Washington University\, Olin Business School. Karsanbhai is fluent in Portuguese\, French and English and has lived and worked in Europe\, Africa and North America. \n  \nHe has a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in business administration from Washington University

At the heart of this transformation is the critical infrastructure of data centers and cloud computing platforms\, driven by cutting-edge CPUs and GPUs. Industry giants like Microsoft are investing billions in AI-enabled data centers to train advanced AI models and deploy cloud-based applications globally. \n  \nJoin us for an insightful workshop led by Purdue supply chain faculty\, alongside two distinguished Purdue alumni from Microsoft’s cloud supply chain team. This session will provide a deep dive into the supply chain strategies that support AI and cloud computing. Through an interactive case study\, participants will gain valuable insights into how Microsoft designs and manages its cloud supply chain to enable the development and operation of AI infrastructure. The focus will be on the challenges of designing a supply chain for GPU product offerings\, which are essential for powering AI technologies. He has testified before the U.S. Congress on NAFTA and free trade\, structural reform in Mexico\, and monetary and exchange rate policy. Salinas-León is also director of the Center for Latin America of Atlas Network\, an adjunct fellow of the Cato Institute\, and a senior debate fellow and debate lecturer at the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation. DESCRIPTION:Guest speakers and thought leaders will join Purdue President Mung Chiang as part of the lineup for this fall’s Presidential Lecture Series. \n  \nApril 10\nThomas Rosenbaum \nSelected as Caltech’s ninth president in July 2014\, Thomas Rosenbaum is a pioneer in the field of quantum mechanics and also serves as the Sonja and William Davidow Presidential Chair and Professor of Physics. \nBefore arriving at Caltech\, Rosenbaum spent over 30 years at the University of Chicago\, serving as provost from 2007-14. He also was the James Franck Professor of Physics and the John T. Wilson Distinguished Service Professor there. In addition\, he served as director of the James Franck Institute\, and vice president for research at UChicago and for Argonne National Laboratory. \nHe earned his bachelor’s degree in physics with honors from Harvard College\, and a master’s and PhD from Princeton University. \nThis event will be held in Fowler Hall and is tentatively scheduled to start at 6:30pm (this could be subject to change).  This event will be free to attend but tickets will be required for admission.  Tickets can be reserved closer to the time of the event.
