Please\, encourage your students to submit their work\, as it is a good occasion for them to get broader recognition for their awesome skills! \n  \nPanel \nThe last day of the conference will see a panel discussion on the theme of data science with representatives from academia and industry. \n  \nData Science for the Biological Sciences Workshop \nDuring the conference\, we will hold a workshop on the use of R to answer questions emerging in biology. The lectures are tailored for students in the biological sciences\, but are open to the general audience. \n  \nData-Driven Dynamical Systems Workshop \nWe will also hold a workshop on data-driven dynamical systems. The lectures are tailored for undergraduate and early graduate students. \n\n\n\n\nOur Mission\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe advancement of technology and specifically the availability of a greater than ever computational power have given rise in recent years to the conditions necessary for the birth of the new research area of Data Science. \nData Science is an interdisciplinary field which joins together ideas and tools from Mathematics\, Statistics\, Computer Science\, and Software Engineering\, among others\, and which bases its most important conclusions on evidence coming from data. \nData Science has revolutionized research methodology in health science\, biology\, economics\, social sciences\, climatology\, and several more of the social and hard sciences. The results produced by this new paradigm have been extraordinary and can be seen in our everyday life. Personalized Medicine\, Self-Driving Cars\, fingerprint/image recognition\, and GPS navigation are all products of the Data Science revolution. \nBeautifully enough\, these exciting results and the remarkably effective techniques of Data Science are not only largely accessible to non-experts\, undergraduate and graduate students\, and practitioners\, but also benefit from this interaction of researchers coming from academia\, industry\, government organizations\, and local communities. \nThe Data Science Week 2024 is the 6th edition of the Data Science Week at Purdue University Fort Wayne and is intended to bring together the different populations in the metropolitan Fort Wayne region that work in Data Science and to demonstrate to our students the important role that Data Science plays in our everyday life and research.

DESCRIPTION:Indiana Pacers Entertainment to Host \nFilm Screening of “Rez Ball”\n\nNovember is Native American Heritage Month\, and Pacers Sports & Entertainment is celebrating with a free community screening of the film Rez Ball at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Wednesday\, Nov. 13.\n\nProduced by LeBron James\, Rez Ball follows the Chuska Warriors\, a Native American high school basketball team from New Mexico\, as they band together to keep their quest for a state championship alive after losing their star player.\n\nDescribed as “Friday Night Lights” meets “Hoosiers\,” the film is an all-American underdog story about Navajo high school basketball players and coaches told from the inside-out.\n\n“Indigenous people have a deep and integral connection to our country’s history\,” said Tracy Ellis-Ward\, PS&E Senior Vice President for Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion. “Their ties to basketball trace back to the sport’s origin and sharing this modern-day story with our community is a great way to spotlight Native American Heritage Month. Some of the movie themes address realities that exist not only in Indigenous communities\, but society at large.”\n\nDoors for the event open at 5 p.m. on Wednesday\, Nov. 13\, and the event begins at 6 p.m. The film will run following brief remarks from Ellis-Ward and the Eiteljorg Museum Curator of Great Lakes Native Cultures Monica Raphael\, as well as a special message from Associate Head Coach of the Indiana Mad Ants Justin Wetzel.\n\nFans can learn more and reserve their free tickets HERE.
