Talk Title: Machine Learning for Industry: The Road to Success

Talk Abstract: Focusing on the ground-breaking benefits of AI and ML in industrial technology today, this presentation provides a description and working examples of the four most important types of algorithms today: Classification, Regression, Optimization, and Neural Networks and Deep Learning. Gaining a better understanding of the technology will help overcome the most common challenges while avoiding potential problems. The session also offers best practices to drive wider adoption of ML, delivering important keys to success with AI and ML in industrial technology.

Bio: David J Corliss, PhD
With a PhD in statistical astrophysics, David J. Corliss leads the Industrial Data Science team at Stellantis, a leading global automaker with brands including Chrysler, Jeep, Peugeot, and Fiat. Corliss serves on the Data User Advisory Committee of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. and recently chaired the Conference on Statistical Practice from the American Statistical Association (ASA). Dr. Corliss is also the founder of Peace-Work, a volunteer cooperative of statisticians and data scientists applying statistical methods to support community service organizations and data-driven advocacy, and is the author of “Stats4Good,” a monthly column which is published in ASA’s Amstat News.
